Former Antwerp midfielder Arthur Vermeeren is once again facing a club change. Olympique Marseille is reportedly unlikely to sign the 21-year-old Belgian permanently from RB Leipzig, meaning Vermeeren will have to look for a new challenge this summer. The Ligue 1 club is unwilling to pay the €20 million asking price to convert his loan spell into a permanent transfer.

This amount is similar to what both Atletico Madrid and RB Leipzig previously paid for him. Vermeeren broke through at Royal Antwerp FC and seemed destined for a brilliant career, but subsequently experienced difficult spells in Madrid and later in Leipzig. Now, RB Leipzig also appears uninterested in keeping him.

Despite these setbacks, there is still plenty of time for the young midfielder to revive his career. He shone brightly with Antwerp and was a key player for the team that secured the club's first league title in decades. His talent and potential are undeniable, given his young age of 21.

Two prominent clubs have been mentioned as potential destinations, each at opposite ends of their respective domestic leagues. Tottenham Hotspur, currently embroiled in a relegation battle, is one side said to be interested in Vermeeren. Whether this depends on their Premier League survival remains to be seen, but playing in the Championship could help Vermeeren enjoy football again, as he should be more than good enough for that level.

Alongside Tottenham, Inter Milan, the league leaders in Serie A, has also been mentioned. This interest from a top club indicates that Vermeeren is still highly regarded despite his recent difficulties. A move to Inter would be a huge opportunity for the former Antwerp star to prove himself at the highest level.
