Antwerp has appointed its new coach. Marvin Compper becomes the new head of the Great Old. The 41-year-old German comes from Sankt Gallen, where he worked as an assistant for the past two seasons.

Compper is becoming the first time in his career a head coach. The new Antwerp is getting more of a face. After the takeover by the investor group around Wouter Vandenhaute and club icon Toby Alderweireld, now also the first major sporting decision on the Bosuil: Marvin Compper becomes the new coach.

Antwerp chooses a remarkable profile. As a player, the former central defender built a beautiful career in the Bundesliga, with passages at Borussia Mönchengladbach, Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig. He also played for Fiorentina and collected one cap for Germany.
What does this mean for Belgium?
Belgium is also not entirely unknown to Compper. The German followed the Pro License training in our country, where he also sat together with Faris Haroun. He took over the honors temporarily on the Bosuil and now returns to his role as assistant.
