Royal Antwerp have been linked with a move for 20-year-old midfielder Bahmed Deuff from FC Nantes. Reports of the Belgian club's interest emerged this week. The Great Old currently sit ninth in the Jupiler Pro League with seven points from four games, five points behind leaders Charleroi.
No agreement has been reached between the clubs and no transfer fee or probability has been mentioned. Deuff, a right-footed player standing 1.94m tall, made the step up from Nantes' reserve side to the senior squad this summer. His contract with the French club runs until 30 June 2029.
Bahmed Deuff has made three appearances in Nantes' opening four Ligue 2 matches this season. He started one match and has played 30% of the available minutes. The young midfielder has not registered a goal or an assist and has received one yellow card. His current market valuation is estimated at €1.2m, with a highest recorded value of €1.5m.
He progressed through the Nantes youth academy and moved to the B team in 2024. His official promotion to the first team followed on 8 July 2025. His physical stature and age make him a potential project player for the future.
Adding a young, physically strong midfielder could provide reinforcement for Antwerp's squad. The club has scored ten goals this season but has also conceded nine. The team may be looking for more balance and depth in the midfield.
The current squad can be viewed on our squad page. The manager and staff will have to weigh their options in the coming weeks, especially with a busy schedule ahead. The next challenge is an away match against Standard Liege, scheduled for 5 September.
A potential deal for Deuff would represent an investment in the future. Given his long contract at Nantes and the lack of an agreed fee, a transfer this summer does not appear straightforward. Antwerp may have to negotiate or wait for a later transfer window.
The club has a goal difference of +1 and sits in ninth place with a recent form of LDWW. Fans can follow the current league position on our standings page. The next league fixture is an important match against fifth-placed Standard Liege on Friday, 5 September.
