Marink Reedijk not trainer of Antwerp
Marink Reedijk will not be the new trainer of Antwerp FC. The Dutchman was a key candidate, but the deal fell through. Reedijk made an impression at SK Beveren by leading the club to promotion without losing a game, which means they will play at the highest level in Belgium this season.
Why did the deal fall through?
According to Belgian media, the deal fell through because the club did not agree to Reedijk's contract terms. The Dutchman wanted a three-year contract, but Antwerp only wanted to bind him for two years.
What comes next?
According to Belgian media, Marvin Compper is now the main candidate for the trainer position. Compper (41) is currently still under contract with Swiss Sankt Gallen. Antwerp starts the competition on Sunday, August 9, with a home game against Beveren, the old club of Reedijk.
