Royal Antwerp FC have handed 17-year-old goalkeeper Vic Luyckx his first professional contract. The club confirmed the deal this week, tying the academy product to the Young Reds squad.
Luyckx has been with Antwerp since the U11s, having moved from partner club R Cappellen FC. The club stated: "Vic speelt sinds de U11 op de Bosuil en kwam destijds over van partnerclub R Cappellen FC." He has been playing for the U18 side since July 2025 and is listed among the goalkeepers for the reserves this season.
Antwerp have a deep youth goalkeeping pool. Alongside Luyckx, the group includes Platon Matiukov, Lowie Piselé, Mathis Lens, Ruben Coenen and Noa Maes. They are competing for two spots with the Young Reds. The club is emphasising the promotion of home-grown talent to refresh a very young first-team squad.
The formal announcement was made via the RAFC Academy account on 25 September. The length of the contract or any potential fee was not disclosed. The move comes as the first team sits 13th in the Jupiler Pro League with seven points from seven games. Their recent form reads LLLLD. The next opportunity for points is on 10 October away to KVC Westerlo, who are eighth. Supporters can check the full fixtures list and the current standings. Luyckx is yet to make an official senior appearance this campaign.
