Antwerp loses its defender Kiki Kouyaté to Saudi Al-Khaleej FC. The 29-year-old Malian player has signed a lucrative contract until mid-2028.
What happened?
Kiki Kouyaté came over from Montpellier last summer and signed a three-year contract with Antwerp. He will now be a teammate of Anthony Moris at Al-Khaleej FC.
Why is he leaving?
The financial status of Antwerp and Kouyaté's good performances led to a quick departure. Al-Khaleej FC finished last season in twelfth place in the Saudi Pro League.
What's next?
Antwerp now has to look for a replacement for Kouyaté. The club has already said goodbye to Vincent Janssen, Gyrano Kerk, Zeno Van den Bosch, Dennis Praet, and Kobe Corbanie.
